Diversitat's End of Financial Year Giving Campaign

Friday, 30 June 2017 (All day)

DIVERSITAT is running a special End of Financial Year Giving Campaign to raise money for a dedicated Asylum Seeker and Refugee information and casework support service.

This is a special project for us. It is designed to provide direct assistance for refugees and asylum seekers who are not eligible for Australian Government funded services and will support hundreds of individuals and families in Greater Geelong and surrounding regions

This service will go some of the way to ensuring that these most vulnerable people will have access to specialist social workers and interpreters to help them transition into their life in Australia.

DIVERSITAT has set an ambitious target, to raise $25,000 by the end of the Financial Year. This will enable us to run the service for a day a week for a year. If we raise more we will expand to two days a week, the more we raise the more we can help.

Today our region is welcoming hundreds of Asylum Seekers and refugees. Many of these people have arrived here after experiencing years of trauma. They have survived conflict, torture and war. They have very few family connections here and most are struggling with a whole new language and trying to adapt to a new way of life.

A dedicated Asylum Seeker and Refugee drop in service can help with some of these transitions. It will operate each week and provide a hub of contact for new arrivals.

Your EOFY contribution is totally tax deductible and it will be helping some of our newest and most vulnerable members in our community.
