Bannockburn and Colac to get new men’s shed
Bannockburn and Colac will get new men’s sheds as part of the latest round of State Government grants.
Families and Children Minister Jenny Mikakos announced the grant winners at the opening of the Melbourne Men’s Shed at Federation Square.
Ms Mikakos said "Men’s Sheds played an important role in building inclusive communities and reducing social isolation. They are a safe and friendly space where people can learn new skills, catch up with mates and give back to the community. They enable people to get together, work on valuable projects and forge strong ties with others in the community. They are great for the health and wellbeing of men in our communities”.
Grants of up to $60,000 were awarded to build 15 new men’s sheds in Victorian communities with a high need. Funds could be used to construct a new building, redevelop an existing building or co-locate a men’s shed in a community facility or hub.
