Colac Otway Shire – CBD Revitalisation Project
Colac Otway Shire has broken fresh ground with its CBD revitalisation project, a $1.95 million initiative delivered on time and budget with assistance from Federal and State funding.
The project includes major streetscape enhancements with aesthetic and functional improvements to the centre median, footpaths, street furniture and landscaping.
Local contractors and materials were used and a smart irrigation system was also installed in garden beds to ensure plant and tree health all year round.
The improvements are expected to deliver significant economic benefits to Colac by encouraging locals and visitors to shop in town. It will also improve the liveability of Colac as a place to live, work and visit.
The CBD revitalisation project began with feedback and consultation with local businesses and the residential community.
It was funded with $975,000 from the Federal Government, $500,000 from Regional Development Victoria, $200,000 from Local Government Victoria and $275,000 from council.
