NDIA headquarters official opening fantastic for our region

I am delighted that Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Victorian Premier Denis Napthine officially opened the National Disability Insurance Agency headquarters in Geelong today.

This is wonderful news for our region and is expected to provide a $34 million boost to our local economy once the NDIS is fully rolled out.

I am a passionate supporter of the NDIS and I’m very proud that Geelong is now the home of this scheme which is so important to people with a disability and their families.

The Federal Government is fully committed to the successful rollout of the NDIS and today is a fantastic milestone for Geelong and Australia.

The NDIS will generate around 450 direct jobs in total for Geelong by 2019-20.

The Agency headquarters is anticipated to employ more than 125 jobs by the end of 2014, with that number expected to rise to 300 by the scheme’s full rollout in 2019-20.

This is in addition to the 120 staff already employed by the Barwon trial of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, a number which is anticipated to grow to 150.
